There are varied types of apartments available and individuals can get confused between them. Two particular apartment types that often get confused are a one bedroom and a studio apartment. The terms are often used interchangeably though there is a critical difference between the two. It is vital to familiarize oneself with the two terms so that the right apartment, in accordance to the needs, is selected.
What is a one bedroom?
A one bedroom apartment is most commonly referred to as a single apartment. A basic one bedroom apartment has a bedroom, a kitchen, a living room and a bathroom. Some one bedroom apartments can also feature a balcony or courtyard etc. However, these features vary from apartment to apartment.
On the other hand, a studio apartment refers to a single large room that features a kitchen and a separate bathroom. A studio apartment is basically a self-contained unit and houses everything in the single room space except the bathroom. It is typically a large room with various areas of the room used for different purposes. For instance, a corner of the room may be for the bed, another corner may be designed as a kitchen, and the space in between may be used as the living room.
What is a the difference?
The distinct difference between a one bedroom apartment and a studio apartment is that the one bedroom apartment features separate spaces from the bedroom area, living room area and the kitchen area. However, a studio apartment has a single large multipurpose room which serves as the bedroom, the kitchen and as well as the living room. Most one bedroom apartments will be approximately 50sqm, where a studio apartment will be half that size. The only similarity between both of them is that they feature a separate space for the bathroom.
Besides this, a one bedroom apartment is different from a studio apartment in every aspect.
